CASA Membership
CASA is a regional
affiliate of the Association of Food and Drug Officials. It
provides its members a wide variety of services and benefits useful
to today’s food and drug professional.
SERVICES & BENEFITS
Annual
Conference - A three day conference at which exhibitors,
university, consumer, industry, and regulatory representatives
present relevant developments, materials, techniques, topics and
issues in the
food, drug, environmental health, consumer affairs
and laboratory
areas as well as hearing lectures on timely
interest.
Executive Seminar -
Periodic series of round-table discussions open by invitation only
to top programs officials, geared towards encouraging greater CASA
response to members agencies, improving inter-agency program
coordination, and discussing mutual problems.
Training courses - The
CASA Education Committee develops and presents for its members
throughout the CASA area an annual services of technical training
courses; continuing Education units (CEU’s) are issued for many
sessions.
Local conferences -Within
the CASA framework are local conferences consisting of officials
surrounding in metropolitan areas of Baltimore-Washington,
Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, New York, Buffalo, Harrisburg,
Richmond-Norfolk and Albany. Each local conference holds quarterly
meetings at which the participants in these meetings hear lectures
of timely interest. The meetings also encourage and promote improved
communication between colleagues by bringing these individuals into
direct contact with one another in a semi-official atmosphere. This
contact and subsequent comradery is so essential to cooperative
efforts and beneficial information exchange.
“The CASA Reporter” -A
periodic newsletter which keeps all members informed of CASA
activities and events.
Participation and Sphere
of Influence - Active committees enable members to participate in
CASA activities and derive a sense of pride and satisfaction as they
contribute to the success of their professional association. In
addition through resolutions to AFDO, CASA members can be heard more
effectively and can influence national policy decisions.
MEMBERSHIP IN CASA
As you can see, CASA uses an
active association responsive to is membership.
REGULAR MEMBERS:
Individuals engaged in
official food, drug, cosmetic device or environmental health control
work.
ASSOCIATE MEMBERS:
Individuals not directly
and officially engaged in government control duties, but who are.
Because of vocation or avocation, interested of affiliated with the
work of food, drug, cosmetic or other industries and their legal and
scientific associates.
ACADEMIC MEMBERS:
Professional or scientific
personnel employed by a college or university.
RETIRED MEMBERS:
Persons who during their
employment held active membership in the association.
ACTIVE COMMITTEE:
CASA accomplishes its
objectives and conducts business through committee service. A
